Paul is passionate, knowledgeable, helpful, kind and attentive. These are only a handful of words to describe Paul, especially when he’s out among nature.

I’ve been out exploring new/old trails many times with Paul this last year, I’m very grateful for this time, as I’ve learnt so much about the world around us and I’ve learnt a lot about myself.

I was never really a person who enjoyed the outdoors but now thanks to Paul, that it has changed me for the better (I’m walking/hiking every day now).

I see the small beauties that are in the world around us, may it be a nice sunset or a gorgeous big oak tree.

Being out with Paul has been a literal lift for my physical and mental health that I am forever grateful for. I could not recommend him more.

Knocknarea Hill Walk, Sligo

Paul is a truly amazing and unique hiking guide. He has guided us on numerous adventures, from easy rambles through the Burren to more strenuous hikes up the likes of Nephin Mountain. He adapts his walking pace based on the speed of those he is guiding, ensuring you are comfortable with the pace of the walk and never allowing you to feel like you are delaying him. He also has the ability to safely coax you out of your comfort zone, encouraging you to keep climbing and pushing yourself until you have submitted the mountain. Paul captures amazing photos from start to finish on all his hikes, ensuring customers can enjoy the hike in the moment and do not have to worry about fumbling with their phones on the side of a mountain.

He always comes prepared, with the routes outlined clearly to everyone before commencing a hike. However, he is quick to adapt if there is a change in the weather conditions, or if something piques your interest along the way. His knowledge of nature is remarkable. We have seen everything from deer to wild goats and horses on our hikes with Paul, who points out interesting oddities of nature as you walk.

His love and passion for nature is contagious, and after one hike with Paul you will want to keep coming back for more. I would recommend Paul’s guided walks to people of all ages and abilities, from beginners to experienced walkers. You will learn something new on each hike with Paul, and you won’t be disappointed.

Top class company, highly recommended! I have hiked with many groups in ireland with different companies and I would highly recommend Muddy Souls. Paul is very professional to deal with, knowledgeable and helpful, he is so passionate and dedicated about his work and he had many stories along the way to keep us laughing! We were able to go off the beaten track and take the road less travelled while also feeling safe and well looked after on our hike. The group was of a similar ability and no weather held us back from experiencing the wild west. The breaks allowed the group to chat and get to know each other over tea  (made with a kelley kettle!) and snacks. I plan to hike alot more around Connaught and muddy souls is definitely the company I will be travelling with for my adventures!
